Brody's 7th Birthday

What a great birthday present! Brody came downstairs that morning to find this cool bike with a balloon and ribbon on it. Pretty happy and pretty suprised, for sure.

We had quite a little party here that afternoon for Brody. Bryce's mom came and she brought a visiting cousin of Bryce's, Laura, we are so glad she could come (all the way from D.C.). My parents came and brought my grandma, and my sister Whitney came with her two little boys, Tyler and Zane. It was a nice houseful. Here is a picture of Aunt Whitney and Tyler giving Brody his bday present.
Years ago my Grandma Valentine started the funnest tradition. The birthday kid sits on the ground and the family walks around them singing Happy Birthday while dropping money on their head. We have all loved this fun traditon and who doesn't love to get money?! Here is Brody scrambling to get the goods. He made a haul on his birthday this year coming away with $25.87.

Blowing out his candles on his red velvet cake-another great tradition. Bryce's mom has always made him a red velvet cake for his birthday. Ironically enough, it was also the cake my grandma would make for my dad! So now the tradition is being passed on to Brody. Thanks Grandma Linda for making us such a yummy cake!

The whole family at Brody's party. Thanks everyone for coming, it was a fun day!

I am not completely and totally insane as to try to have a family bday party and a friend bday party all on the same day. So, a week earlier I let Brody choose two friends to take to Chuck E Cheese for a party. He chose two cousins, Conan and Canon and those boys had the BEST time playing and eating and playing and eating. It was the easiest bday party for me. I brought a book to read and let them run free. Great day.
