Grandma Linda has now gotten her chickens and the laying has begun! The kids are, of course, thrilled and Brody even told me that he is the only kid he knows who has a pet chicken. Grandma was very good about getting each of them a chicken they could call their own and even name. Kelsi's is the white chicken, whom she promptly named 'Cart.' Yes, interesting, I know. Just the name you think of when you think chicken-right?! After some deliberation, Brody named his black chicken 'Feathers.' Much more fitting.
Here they are looking at Feathers and some of her sisters. (Although Brody informed me Feathers is really a girl, but a boy....hmmmm?!) Grandma has 6 chickens total. 2 large reddish brown ones, 2 smaller blackish brown ones, Feathers, and Cart. We didn't name the other ones because everyone decided they didn't eventually want to eat a chicken we had named.
Bro and Kels holding up the pictures they drew for their chickens to hang in the coop. You know, just to make it 'home-y.'
Okay, so Bryce drew Kelsi's, but she colored it and did great staying in the lines! Brody's turned out really cool and he did it all himself.
A close up of Cart, Feathers, and some others.
Brody looking to collect an egg and then Kelsi getting one. We have to watch her though, she dropped and broke one today. Poor grandma, all she's getting right now is one a day-so there it goes!

What a fun experience for everyone!
...who's butchering the chickens?
Believe me, I will have nothing to do with it! However, my mom says she know's how to kill them and Linda says she knows how to prep and cook them. At that point I am not even sure I'll be able to eat them!
Those chickens have the best decorated coop ever. Great art!
